【摘要】:Thistestmethoddeterminestheminimuminternalairpressureatwhichrapidcrackpropagation(RCP)canbesustainedalongasectionofplasticpipe.Thisistermedthecriticalpressure.ThistechniqueachievessteadystateRCPinasmallspecimenbyrestrainingthedecompressionwhichnormallyaccompaniesfracture,andthereforeindicatesalowercriticalpressurethanthatmeasuredonthesamepipeusingfull-scaletests.Thistestmethodhasbeencalled"SmallScaleSteadyState"orS4.Thistestmethodwasdevelopedforpolyethylenepipe,andhasbeenshowntocorrelatewiththefull-scaleRCPtestmethod.Theusershoulddetermineifitisapplicabletootherplasticpipingmethods.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
