【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodmeasurestheformaldehydeconcentrationinairandemissionratefromwoodproductscontainingformaldehydeunderconditionsdesignedtosimulateproductuse(see11.5andNote7).Theconcentrationinairandemissionrateisdeterminedinalargechamberunderspecifictestconditionsoftemperatureandrelativehumidity.Thegeneralproceduresarealsointendedfortestingproductcombinationsatproduct-loadingratiosandatair-exchangeratestypicaloftheindoorenvironment(1).Theproductstested,theloadingratiosandtheairexchangeratesemployedaredescribedinthetestreport.1.2Thistestmethoddeterminestheaverageformaldehydeconcentrationinairandemissionratefromanumberoflargesizesamples.Theaverageconcentrationandemissionratereported,thus,willnotprovideinformationonhigherorloweremittingpanelsinthetestlot.1.3Thismethodisprimarilyusedfortestingnewlymanufacturedpanelproductsthatareshippedfortestingeitherseal-wrappedinpolyethyleneorwithwastersheets,orwithboth.Whenthistestmethodisusedforevaluatingotherthannewlymanufacturedpanelproducts(afteroriginalapplication,installationoruse),themethodofpackagingandshippingtheproductfortestingshallbedescribedinthetestreport.1.4ThequantityofformaldehydeintheairsampletakenfromthechamberisdeterminedbyanadaptationoftheNationalInstituteforOccupationalSafetyandHealth(NIOSH)3500chromotropicacidtestprocedure.Ifanotheranalyticalprocedureisusedtodeterminethequantityofformaldehydeintheairsample,thatprocedureshallgiveresultsofequivalentorgreateraccuracyandprecisionthantheadaptedchromotropicacidprocedure.Detailedproceduresbasedonacetylacetone,pararosaniline(seeTestMethodD5221),2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine(DNPH)(seeTestMethodD5197)and3-methyl-2-benzothiazoline(MBTH)(seeTestMethodD5014)havebeenfoundtogiveresultsequivalentorgreaterinaccuracyandprecisionthanchromotropicacid.Thetestreportshallnotetheanalyticalprocedureemployed.Note18212;Thechromotropicacidanalyticalproceduredescribedinthistestmethodisapplicablefortestingurea-formaldehydebondedwoodproducts.AccordingtoNIOSH(4thEdition,8/15/94)thelowendoftheworkingrangeforthechromotropicacidanalyticalprocedureis0.02ppm.Amoresensitiveanalyticalprocedureisrecommendedfortestingwoodpanelproductswhereformaldehydeconcentrationsinairareanticipatedtobeatorbelowthislevel.DNPHisrecognizedassuchamethod.1.5ThistestmethodisusedtodeterminecompliancewithrequirementssuchasthoseestablishedforbuildingmaterialsbytheU.S.DepartmentofHousingandUrbanDevelopmentRulesandRegulations24CFR3280formanufacturedhousingandbyMinnesotaStatutesSection144.495.Measurementresultsarealsousedforcomparingconcentrationsinairandemissionratesfromdifferentwoodproducts(2)andfordeterminingcompliancewithproductstandards.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.7Thistestmethodisnotdesignedfordetermininggeneralorganicemissionsfromallindoormaterialsandproducts.Note28212;ASTMCommitteeD22hasdevelopedGuideD5116whichdescribessmall-scaleenvironmentalequipmentandtechniquessuitablefordeterminingorganicemissionsandemissionratesfrommaterialsandproductsusedindoors.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection7.
