【摘要】:Theacidstrength,asmeasuredbypHe,isagoodpredictorofthecorrosionpotentialofethanolfuels.Itispreferabletototalaciditybecausetotalaciditydoesnotmeasureacidstrength;overestimatesthecontributionofweakacids,suchascarbonicacid;andmayunderestimatethecorrosionpotentialoflowconcentrationsofstrongacids,suchassulfuricacid.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaproceduretodetermineameasureoftheacidstrengthofhighethanolcontentfuels.Theseincludeethanol,denaturedfuelethanol,andfuelethanol(Ed75-Ed85).Thetestmethodisapplicabletofuelscontainingnominally70volume%ethanol,orhigher,asdescribedinSpecificationsD4806andD5798.1.2AcidstrengthasmeasuredinthistestmethodisdefinedaspHe.ApHevalueforalcoholsolutionsisnotcomparabletopHvaluesofwatersolutions.Forexample,a1.5x00D7;10-5M(18ppm)solutionofH2SO4givesapHofabout5.5inwatersolution,but,dependingonbufferingstrength,apHeaslowas1to2inunadditizedalcoholfuel.1.3ThevalueofpHemeasuredwilldependsomewhatonthefuelblend,thestirringrate,andthetimetheelectrodeisinthefuel.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
